Stanislav Azarov (1977) is a young artist whose works are exhibited in a number of prestigious galleries around the world… under a false name. Their authorship is attributed to a fictional artist Foma Jaremtschuk (or Foma Yaremchuk), an invention of art fraudsters who realizing the quality of Azarov’s art presented his works to established European galleries as artwork by a mid-century Russian outsider artist who was forcefully hospitalized by the Soviet government and spent most of his life in and out of mental institutions. Author/s of this hoax are still unknown and Azarov's artworks were exhibited and sold without his knowledge. This art hoax is analyzed in detail in the article by Mikhail Yashnov and Yulia Vishnevetskaya.

The real author of the works, Stanislav Azarov, is a contemporary graphic artist and painter who lives and works in Volgograd, Russia. He earned a Diploma in Printed Graphics from Volgograd State Pedagogical University (1999). Since 2000 he has been working as an independent artist, engaged in various printing and painting techniques, art-performances, decorating the interiors of public spaces and teaching.

Azarov’s artwork has been widely exhibited in Russia, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Finland, and Great Britain. His works are in the collections of the Museum du Petit Format in Belgium, in the ADOGI Mini-Print Cadaques Gallery (Spain), in the Russian State Pushkin Museum, as well as in private collections in Germany, Great Britain, Spain, USA, and Russia.
