Spanish minimalist photographic duo featured by Forbes
THINK + feel Contemporary artists- Spanish minimalist photographic duo -Anna Devis and Daniel Rueda known for their playful take on everyday architecture have been attracting considerable interest of the media. Most recently, their work was covered by Forbes magazine in a feature published on September 3.
In the Forbes article, its author Isabelle Kilger points to Anna & Daniel’s unique ability to “turn facades of building into works of art”. The two young artists named as Forbes 30 under 30 Europe have already established themselves as true professionals having collaborated with major brands such as Coca Cola, Facebook, LG, Swatch, Accord Hotels, among others. Their works are sought after by international collectors of all ages. Inspired by the oeuvre of the famous American photographer Rodney Smith, the two have established themselves as the major figures in the minimal surrealistic photography.
“Our goal with these images is to bring architecture closer to the people, one building at a time, using creativity and humor to spread the passion architects feel for the cities they design. In our work, instead of being relegated to the background, these sometimes mundane, yet always beautiful structures are brought into the spotlight, finally getting all the attention they truly deserve."
Anna & Daniel never use photo-editing software, all the props used in their images are made by the artists. They always prepare for each shot and don’t leave anything to chance. Normally their shoots take them on trips around the world; however, current situation has narrowed their focus geographically, yet they are excited to discover architectural gems in their own Valencia neighborhood.
Anna & Daniel have a number of awards under their belts. Most recently, they were selected as Hasselblad Ambassadors and Anna - a Hasselblad Heroine. Hasselblad, a world renown camera company founded in 1941, made the first camera on the moon and took Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin's world famous photo of the lunar surface.
